Guia de Isora, is located on Tenerife’s west coast, and has a traditional Canarian feel. The town itself is on the edge of the Teide National Park and offers lovely views oceans. The main beach at Playa San Juan has a small harbour and clear waters. Next door is Alcala, a fishing village with a pretty main square, promenade and natural rock pools.
Playa San Juan has 2 beaches. The main beach has a stretch of dark volcanic and next to it a small cove which is popular with families. Additionally the Ritz Carlton Abama Hotel has a golden beach surrounded by steep cliffs. The beach at Alcala is small with natural rock pools and an attractive promenade.
Shops, Restaurants and Bars
Playa San Juan has a number of superb seafood and tapas restaurants and some small cafes many overlooking the ocean. Around the square in Alcala you will find a selection of shops, tapas bars and outdoor cafes. A market is held in Alcala every Monday morning. The old town of Guia de Isora also has a selection of dining venues.
Things to Do
This area has some stunning seafront walks. The coastal path from Playa San Juan leads to the cliffs of Los Gigantes passing through small villages and seaside resorts.
The Ritz Carlton Abama Resort has an impressive range of facilities. These include a beautiful spa, tennis centre and a Championship Golf Course overlooking the ocean
There are plenty of attractions for families nearby. About 20 minutes away in Playa de las Americas is Siam Park one of the best waterparks in Europe featuring exciting rides and relaxing beaches set in a spectacular Thai themed kingdom. Jungle Park an acclaimed wildlife centre and a second waterpark Aqualand which is famous for its dolphin shows are a similar distance away.
Of course you are also on the edge of the spectacular Teide National Park where a cable runs to the top of Teide Volcano, Spain’s highest peak. This takes visitors directly over a unique landscape of craters, volcanoes and lava rivers.
